Let's talk about Helsinki
Once while living in Florence Italy I was desperate for a movie. It had to be a subtitled English-language movie, otherwise as good as my first year Italian was, I wouldn’t be able to track what was going on. I chose Jim Jarmusch’s Night on Earth. Lo and behold the final story in this movie was set in Helsinki and was in Finnish. So, I was watching an American movie with Finnish dialogue, subtitled in Italian.
It was an experience.
There’s another experience pertinent to Helsinki and it’s today’s Good Thing.
You see, Helsinki had ZERO traffic fatalities for an entire calendar year. That in itself is an achievement, and after the paywall we get into how the Finns did it.
