The Camellón is Good
If you like walking, cities and architecture. Not necessarily in that order.
In a nearby neighborhood in Los Angeles, I stumbled across a few narrow walkways seemingly placed in between houses. Cement walkways that connect one street to another. Not sidewalks, but diversions.
Here is the “entrance”
This led me down a research rabbit hole, which ended up learning about the camellón, a staple of Mexico City's urban design.
What is a camellón? The best definition I found is:
A central strip that separates main urban roads from parallel side roads - https://mexicocity.cdmx.gob.mx/walking-neighborhoods/
It’s not quite what I have found nearby, but it is a good thing.
More after the bump.
