Pat Morita, was first a comedian, then a TV star (Happy Days) and, most wisely, played Mr. Miyagi in the classic Karate Kid movies. TIL that the late Mr. Morita was also a protege of the great, Redd Foxx.
Now most people know Redd Foxx from Sanford and Son, there are great stories about Foxx and his writers room, from working the “Chitlin Circuit” with notable names like Quincy Jones, Richard Pryor and Lena Horne, for his racy sets and for superfluous consonants in his name.
I hope that one day he is known just as well for this story, which is about generosity, about values and about setting an example:
