TL;DR

Some unfortunate things that are left over from the made Cold War days are nuclear silos and research stations. These were instruments of potential destruction.

Now they are being converted into solar power plants.

That’s good.

In a nutshell:

  • The DOE is repurposing land used in the past for nuclear deterrence into sites for clean energy generation.

  • The first projects are underway at the Idaho National Laboratory, with plans to expand to four more locations across the country.

  • These solar farms will generate enough clean energy to power tens of thousands of homes.

  • It’s a Public Sector - Price Sector win! With the DOE working with private developers to bring this initiative to life.

The "material and fuels complex" facility at the The Idaho National Laboratory, eastern Idaho.

Much more detail after the paywall.
