"Our land is more valuable than your money. It will last forever. It will not even perish by the flames of fire. As long as the sun shines and the waters flow, this land will be here to give life to men and animals." - Anonymous Chief of the Blackfeet Indians
Land. Arable Land.
Arable, by definition, is the ability to be plowed. Ideal arable land is rich in nutrients, is exposed to consistent sunlight and rain, exists in a temperate and predictable climate. Arable lands need to be maintained and, as is universally known, are pretty important.
Humanity uses arable land (in the cases when we use it) for crops to eat, and to raise livestock.
Slowly, while you and I were probably not looking we have become very good and very efficient at using arable lands.
This has numerous advantages to glorify. One is resources, the smaller plot of land needed the fewer things are needed to maintain it. Less water, fewer men (or women), less fertilizer, less surveillance or protection, etc. etc.
Getting more from less. It’s a hallmark of modern life.
It’s good.
