This story has been pretty well covered, but it’s so good it deserves to be covered some more.

Ruth Gottesman’s husband, David ‘Sandy’ Gottesman was an early investor in Berkshire Hathaway and a good friend of Warren Buffett. The two regularly spoke on the phone and frequently dined together in both NYC and Omaha. I think we can qualify that as a good investment rewarding friendship.

Upon inheriting his estate the only instructions for Dr. Gottesman were:

"Do whatever you think is right with it".

She certainly did.
