The Return of the Apple
It's been downhill for a while, but now it's time to celebrate the apple
Depending on what you believe or read, the apple has had a bad rap.
Starting in the Garden of Eden, and then through Sleeping Beauty.
But, let me propose the following. Apples (outside of phones (or laptops)) are good, and perhaps the best apple should be celebrated for a number of reasons…
This is the Honeycrisp apple, and it is most definitely a good thing.
It’s so good that I believe some people consider it to be the best thing to ever come out of the University of Minnesota (the only other really noteable thing to come out of there is some musician who changed his name to Dylan.
So, the Honeycrisp apple. It was engineered! That’s amazing! Scientists saw that too many apples were sour, or mealy, or mealy and sour and presto in 1988 they patented the Honeycrisp. If for some reason you have been deprived, this apple lives up to its name. It’s crisp on the bite, it’s sweet on the tongue, it’s full of flavor and juice. I mean if you are going to create an apple, that’s pretty much the perfect recipe (ugh.)
Finally, anyone who has ever gone on a hike (and I speak from experience on this one) and come across a berry bush knows that there’s waaaaaaay too high of a chance that the picked berry is going to be sour, or mushy, or something else less than perfect. Why shouldn’t science make all berries sweet and rewarding?
Honeycrisp apples are created to be better than good. And that’s a good thing.
