My experience with paper folding began with the humble paper airplane, and it pretty much hit its apex with the paper snapper.

While there’s an aesthetic beauty to more intricate origami works, I never really “got” them. "Why would you waste your time folding paper into a flower or a bird for the umpteenth time?” I'd think to myself. Oh boy, does that seem like a big miss now. Because not only are new shapes and techniques being developed, but there are real-world (and off-world) applications to the art form.
