Today’s Good Thing is rye. Yes. The grain plant. Rye as a grain and social component is an interesting subject and a very good thing.

A quick hitter on rye:

  • It is hardy. Handling poor soils and cold temperatures thanks to an extensive root system.

  • It’s rich in nutrients.

  • It has a variety of end-products: mattress fillings, bread, whiskey, hats, soil nutrients.

  • It dates back to 6500 BCE!
