Another Ice Rescue

This time: an exhaustive effort to help an elk

We had a nice response to a similar video earlier this week, so we’re doubling up on ice rescue.

This one comes from the frozen outdoors of La Barge, Wyoming where is was a brisk -14 degrees when three men came across an exhausted Elk stuck in a snowbank and not-moving.

A few points to prepare you for this lovely video:

• EVERYONE is exhausted by the end of the video, from the Elk (who basically collapses) to the two men who are breathing very heavily. Understandably so, all around.

• Note how the Elk is pretty wary of the men, even as they are attempting to help.

• Unfilmed, but annotated at the end is that when the men returned later the Elk had recaptured his/her strength.

• Thankfully the Elk was a pretty young one, they can get up to 600 pounds in adulthood.
