TL;DR:
There’s a type of skin cancer/melanoma that is drug resistant, thus hard to treat and widespread in nature. Now, thanks to some research out of Korea, we have a greater understanding to how this specific cancer is resistant to drugs, thus the resistance may be able to be undermined and new treatments uncovered.
The key seems to be naturally occurring compounds called polyamides.
This good thing is happening at a good time. The scope of melanomas are pretty breathtaking, with projections suggesting around 100,000 annual deaths by 2040.
